The first mistake was taking away the GBA slot. What the hell, Nintendo?
The second was raising the price by 50 bucks.
If I ever buy a 3rd DS, it'll be a Lite, and when they're like 50 bucks. So it'll be a while.

The US version is less expensive, it seems. DSi is also more of an upgrade than the DS Lite was...

But really, taking out the GBA slot was a bad move IMO. It should have had an EXPANDED GBA slot that actually let you play Gameboy Color games. What a joke.
Also peripheral storage cards are available for the DS and DS lite already. There's really no reason to buy this, other than to use its online mode.
Also the browser is available for the original 2 DSes at a low cost.
DSi has Nintendo points, this could mean DSi exclusive games, (including the ability to download older game boy games). Removing the GBA slot doesn't really affect me, as my GBA still works.
Out of curiosity, how are peripheral storage cards useful for the DS at all?
Actually, by peripheral storage cards I meant the Media Manager or some shit like that. It lets you watch .MP4 movies and listen to music on the DS. Which is the feature that the DSi's SD card slot will use.
Also DSi exclusive games is a bad idea. It's supposed to be a redesign, not a new console!
